Citroen Warning Lights

It’s never convenient when a warning light displays on your Citroen dashboard, but luckily for you our handy guide is here to help whenever you need it! 

As with all makes of vehicle, when it comes to Citroen warning lights, there are different stages and processes to follow depending on the kind of light and colour that displays. 

RED - In this instance, you should pull over as soon as it is safe to do so. This is usually considered an urgent warning. Red Warning Lights

ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE 

This warning signal indicates that the electronic parking brake has been applied. ​

Action 

You do not need to do anything in this instance. 

BRAKE FLUID LEVELS 

If this warning light displays when you are driving, it indicates that the brake fluid levels are low. 

Action 

As soon as it is safe to do so, pull over and check the brake fluid levels. If this fault persists, get in touch with our team for further instruction.

FAULT WITH THE EBD 

This indicates a fault with the Electronic Brake Force Distribution, an additional safety feature that works alongside the ABS. 

Action

If this warning light appears, when you reach your destination, give our team a call to get your Citroen booked in. 

BATTERY

If this illuminates when driving, it signifies a fault with the battery charging system.

Action

COOLANT

If this light illuminates whilst you are driving or continues to display after starting the engine, it means that the engine is overheating. 

Action

OIL PRESSURE

If this warning light displays, it means there is low oil pressure. In this instance, significant damage can occur. 

Action

STOP

If this warning light displays itself when you are driving it signifies a serious fault with the breaking, power steering or electric systems. 

Action

POWER STEERING 

This warning light indicates a failure with the power steering system. 

Action 

Whilst it is safe to continue to drive, you may notice the wheel becoming more difficult to turn, particularly at slower speeds. When you reach your destination, give our team at Quest Motor Group a call for further advice. 

Yellow Warning Lights

PARKING BRAKE FAULT

If this warning light appears when driving, it signifies that there is a malfunction with the system. 

Action 

If the light continues to display, when you reach your destination, get in touch with our team at Quest Motor Group Citroen for further advice. 

ABS

If this light displays on your Citroen when you are driving, it indicates that the ABS system has malfunctioned.

Action

Although standard brakes are not affected, the ABS system reduces the risk of skidding and loss of control. Therefore, it is important to get this checked as soon as possible. 

DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC)

If this light displays on your dashboard it indicates a fault with the Dynamic Stability Control - a safety feature that works alongside ABS.

ENGINE FAULT

This light is referred to as the engine management light or the engine fault light. This light may flash or stay on constantly to indicate a problem. 

Action

If the light is constant, this indicates that the exhaust emission control system has a fault. If the light is flashing, this is usually more serious as it indicates that damage is occurring to the catalytic converter. In this instance, as soon as it is safe to do so, pull over and give the team at Quest Citroen a call for further advice. 

AIRBAGS

If this warning light displays when you are driving, it indicates that there is a fault with the airbags or seat belt pretensioner systems. 

Action

PASSENGER AIRBAG

This warning light signifies that the passenger airbag system has a fault. 

Action

In this instance, it is advised not to seat anyone in the passenger seat and to get your car booked in as soon as it is convenient.

TYRE PRESSURE

This indicates that the tyre pressure in one or more tyres is low. 

Action

If this warning light displays, check your pressures as soon as possible and reset the monitoring system upon re-entry of the car.

FAULT

This warning light signifies that the tyre pressure monitoring system has malfunctioned and will no longer monitor the tyre pressures.
