Quest to relocate after almost 100 years in Maldon

  • Quest Maldon is relocating on 31 May 2021.
  • Quest will continue to support Maldon customers from its Braintree dealership.
  • An improved digital offering for those looking to purchase or book a service.
  • A "collect and return" servicing option for added convenience.

  • After almost 100 years, Quest Motor Group is set to consolidate its physical presence at the end of May and will no longer have a dealership in Maldon.

Quest Motor Group, founded almost 100 years ago in Maldon by Jim Gozzett, is one of Essex's longest established franchised dealerships with branches in Braintree and Maldon, Essex.

After the inception of Quest Motor Group in 1924 with the Vauxhall and Bedford franchises on the Maldon High Street, the company went from strength to strength, opening a second dealership in Braintree during the 1950s. It was not until 2007, the company outgrew its Maldon dealership on the High Street and relocated to Wycke Hill in Maldon, expanding its offering with the Vauxhall and SAAB brands. After the demise of SAAB, the dealership quickly replaced the franchise with Citroen, and in 2018, Quest expanded its offering further with the Suzuki franchise.

The automotive industry's fast-changing environment, coupled with COVID-19, has seen more customers taking their car buying journey completely online. With many experts saying retail is never expected to go back to normal, Quest believes the automotive buying experience is no exception. Customers feel confident purchasing their next vehicle online and collecting it from a dealership or having it delivered to their door. Plus, with improved transport options for servicing and repairs, including a fleet of courtesy vehicles and a 'collect and return' option, Quest will continue to support its Maldon customer base in this new, more convenient way.

Robin and Martin Gozzett, the owners of Quest Motor Group, commented, "The Maldon dealership's relocation was a difficult but necessary decision. We must adapt our business inline with rapidly changing consumer behaviour, ensuring we continue to meet customers' expectations while strengthening our business for the future. Over the past few years, we have been investing in our digital strategy, with the ability to buy or finance your car online. We also offer detailed 365-degree imagery inside and out of vehicles, a 14-day money-back guarantee and more".

With a great reputation throughout Essex and a strong digital presence online, Quest hopes that current and new customers will continue to purchase their next vehicle from them by going online or visiting their Braintree dealership – only a short 30-minute drive from Maldon.

Robin and Martin continued, "We feel confident that with the great reputation we've built in Essex, our customers will continue to take advantage of our more convenient and affordable options at our Braintree dealership; which offers servicing and repairs for all makes and models of vehicle, as well as approved servicing and repairs for Vauxhall, Citroen and Suzuki vehicles".

"Our Maldon customers will soon be receiving a letter from us, explaining that our Maldon dealership will be closing at the end of May 2021 and our commitment to continue to support them for all their vehicle requirements going forwards".

Robin and Martin added, "We have enjoyed working with the Maldon community for almost 100 years, and we hope all our lovely customers will make the short journey to visit our Braintree dealership where we will make them most welcome or use our convenient online options".
