Maldon and Tiptree FC score on Valentines Day!

14th February 2016 Match Report

The first home game for Maldon and Tiptree Dynamos of the Spring League saw Langley Colts visit The Wallace Binder Stadium.

The teams kicked off in glorious, yet cold conditions with Maldon and Tiptree looking to continue their good form.

Langley Colts started strong and soon found their stride with a good ball into the Maldon penalty area which brought Leo into the action early clearing well with his head leaving the ball to go out for a throw. The throw was quickly taken only to be intercepted swiftly by Jenson, who soon got into the away teams half to cross into the box which pushed the ball out of play. Langley regrouped well and passed the ball around with confidence but Maldon and Tiptree shut them down with Jack managing to steal the ball and play a have a great run down the line to the lively Jenson, who then found Nathan with a great cross only to hit the post with the goalkeeper routed to the spot.

Maldon and Tiptree continue to press and not allow Langley anytime on the ball and Finn managed to steal the ball in the middle and slot a lovely ball through to the on-running Lui (Nazza) who found the back of the net for his first goal for Dynamos. Maldon and Tiptree continued to keep possession well and kept pressing; not letting Langley to settle this brought a shot from Leo which was well saved by the increasingly busy Langley keeper which led to a goalmouth scramble, only to end up as a goal kick.

Langley Colts continued to try to keep possession but weren’t allowed to rest with Maldon quickly on them again and Jenson forcing the keeper into another fine save. More great work in the Maldon mid-field from Finn who put a great ball through to Jenson who scores with a calm finish to make it 2-0.

Langley Colts attempted to regroup and strung together some good passes which led to a rare shot on goal for the away team which was well saved by Daniel low down to his right. The last move of the 1st half would see Maldon continue to build from the back with Cayden and Jack working well together to get the ball to Jenson who found Nathan unmarked in the box to unleash what can only be described as an unstoppable strike, only to see the keeper stand strong and push it on to the cross bar which is probably still shaking.

Maldon and Tiptree started the second half very strong with a great display of one touch passing totalling 15 passes which ended with Nathan shooting which was once again brilliantly saved by the keeper who certainly was earning his Hot Dog and Chips after the game!! Jenson continued to dominate down the wing and played a great ball into Nathan for him to slot the ball home for his first of the game.

He didn’t need to wait long for his second after some good work from Jack who stole the ball and drove deep into the Langley half only to be fouled just outside the penalty area, up stepped Nathan and guided the ball into the top corner leaving the keeper no chance for once.

The home team took a strong hold of the game and began to take complete control in all areas, passing with confidence which showed when Jenson neatly found Finn and then up to Nathan who completed his hat-trick.

The game continued in the same vein, with Daniel in the Maldon goal not being called upon in the second half with his team mates controlling the game in front of him, Maldon would not let it lie and added another four goals with a long range effort from Leo who also added a second, and Finn not being outdone with and pair of his own including a rasping left footer from outside the box.

The game finished 9-0 with a great team performance all round from Maldon and Tiptree showing they are one of the teams to beat.

Man of the Match Jenson with some great work rate at both ends of the field.
